How to Write a Great Thank-You Email After an Interview
A short, sincere note within 24 hours can tip a close decision in your favor. Here is the template.
Send it within 24 hours
The same evening if possible, but always within a day. After that the impression has faded, and your note feels procedural rather than genuine.
Keep it short
Six sentences is plenty. Anything longer signals anxiety. Recruiters skim everything; respect their time.
Reference a specific moment
Mention one specific thing from the conversation that resonated: a project, a challenge they described, a value they emphasized. This proves you were present and engaged.
Reinforce your fit
In one sentence, restate why the role excites you and why you are well placed to help. Do not repeat your whole CV; pick the single strongest connection.
Address anything you missed
If you fumbled an answer or forgot a key point, this is your chance to close the gap. Briefly, calmly, without re-litigating the question.
Send it to every interviewer you can
Each on a separate, individualized email. Resist the urge to BCC. Five minutes of personalization makes you the candidate they remember.
